yeaokwali
Soooo I do a lot of ear training, and whenever I hear bare chords or a melody in a song I like, or I'm familiar with. I always try and figure it out on the keys. Take this song for example: Very very simple intro. Practically begging to be transcribed by a noob like me lol. I'm pretty sure it starts C, E, C, E, C, E, C, E, G, E..........but then at the 0:09 mark one of the notes changes? The C I believe but I can figure it out interval wise in relation to the typical major scale. I'm pretty sure its "chromatic" or going outside the typical scale but I have no idea what note to press and its driving me crazy! Can someone please crack this case so I can go to sleep lol. David Nahmani
but then at the 0:09 mark one of the notes changes? Yes: starting at that point, instead of playing a C, play an F. The C I believe but I can figure it out interval wise in relation to the typical major scale. F is the 4th in C Major. I'm pretty sure its "chromatic" or going outside the typical scale No, it's diatonic: it's still in the key of C Major (in other words F is a note of the C Major scale). One could argue that the piece of music is arpeggios of a C Maj chord, then an F 7/9 chord.
