Scarlett 2i2 and crackling noises when playing loops?

My M-Audio Fast Track C400 just broke yesterday, and since I can't afford an Apogee Duet 2 right now, I went out and bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 instead. Why in the world is there a crackling noise when auditioning loops??? This did not happen with my Fast Track. . .and it was nearly half the price of the Scarlett. I've tried adjusting the buffer sizes within Logic but to no avail.

 

Any advice?

My apologies. . .should have included in my OP that I updated the drivers already. . .but, still same problem.

Restarting the computer? Unplugging the device? Trying a different usb cable?

contact focusrite? i have the same interface, and no such problems....

Good to know that at least it's capable of working correctly. For a minute there I thought I was out 170 bucks.

it's a really nice sounding interface (altho i wish it's line and headphone outs were a bit louder). but better quality than my previous more-expensive interface...

If you don't mind my asking. . .what was your previous more-expensive interface? For me, the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is just for the time being until I get enough money for an Apogee Duet 2. . .I think.

i had an NI Audio Kontrol 1; louder, but the sound is flatter, cleaner, with the 2i2...
