DrFletch
HI, I'm running Logic Pro 9.1.8 on a MacBook Pro Retina 15" 10.8.2 with a USB Timepiece MTP AV (firmware2.0.1) When inputting midi using Logic's inbuilt sounds, all is fine but when I use external devices, when playing the keyboard, notes drop out, notes hang and I get random midi data, portamento, attack time, volume etc. Have changed cables, rebooted and looked at logic prefs as much as I can but can't see anything wrong. Any clues? cheers
Jordi Torres
Welcome to Logic Pro Help, DrFletch! Please take a minute to read our forum rules and add your Logic version and system info to your signature: Forum Rules - please READ THIS before posting (#5) What keyboard are you using? Could be something with the MOTU. I suggest you do a test using the free MIDI Monitor utility to compare what comes out when you use an IAC driver bus instead of the MOTU. This will help you see where the problem with the random MIDI messages is originating. J.

Jordi Torres
I don't see how the data being sent on the sync port should affect whatever you have connected to any of the other "normal" ports... J.
Jordi Torres
I have checked it out here on my USB MTP AV, and as soon as I close Clockworks, the Sync Port stops sending data (the first pair of LEDs ..the "A" LEDs...stop blinking). Still, I don't see how this can affect data on other ports. J.
DrFletch
OK I've finally narrowed it down to a MTP AV problem. Seems that the MacBooc Pro Retina doesn't like it very much. A Midisport 2x2 works perfectly. I wonder if it's a USB 3 issue (Retina's only have USB 3) and the MTP driver hasn't been updated for that. I notice the Midisport drivers go to 10.6.8 Ah well, at least I'm working now albeit with only two midi ports thanks for thoughts, any further ones...appreciated
Jordi Torres
Even though I doubt the problem is related to the data sent through the sync port, did you manage to make those messages stop? I assume you're using the latest driver for the MOTU..are you? I wonder if it's a USB 3 issue (Retina's only have USB 3) and the MTP driver hasn't been updated for that. Who knows, if you could test with a computer that has USB 2.0 ports that would clear it up. J.
