Crackle when recording in Logic

Hey,

 

When i record through my Toneport UX1 into Logic at random intermittent points i get this odd crackle sound which ruins the recording.

I've tried doing this into audacity and i don't get the same problem so i'm assuming it's not the toneport and is a problem located within logic? I've tried resetting all the preferences and changing the buffer sizes.

Any help on this issue would be much appreciated.

What I/O buffer setting do you have?

 

I set mine from 512 to 64 yesterday to track a very tight vocal (didn't want the delay in my headphones) and everything started crackling. However the newly recorded vocal had no crackle when soloed. After recording, switched back to 512. All is well.
