Tied note problem unwanted result.

I have read the manual and am having a problem with my tied note result. I drag the duration bar past the end of the measure to try and get a eighth note tied to a half note but the result is a sixteenth tied to a half with a sixteenth note rest at the end of the bar. I have tried this over and over with the same result.

Can anyone see by the attached image what I might be doing wrong? Thanks

That seemed to work. It will take me sometime to become used to the score editor but I can't wait until I do. I was using Harmony Assistant so easy to add ties and some other things but I would rather use Logic for most of my musical chores. Thank you for the help.

You're welcome.

Syncupation does some weird stuff when it's not needed. Very useful when it is though.

Interpretation gets rid of silly rests when notes are a bit short.

Trial and error will give you an idea,but in the end it varies depending on what you're doing and your prefs/modus operandi.
