robmanning Posted March 23, 2007 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Hello, I recently received a threatening junk e-mail from some ‘oik’ telling me that they had hacked into my computer and unless I pay them $150 within 5 days my computer would be paralysed. I know this sounds like a load of rubbish but never the less I want to be cautious and make sure that I am protected. Can anyone recommend a way of stopping this? I’m not too clued up about firewalls, will up-ing my security slow my Mac down as far as Logic goes? I’m happy to stop using my G5 for Internet stuff (as I have a laptop for general computing) but I need to keep it networked. ben parsons Posted March 25, 2007 Share Posted March 25, 2007 obviously, no guarantees here, but here's my view... #1 over all- it just sounds like a load of crap to me #2 viurs programmers make viruses for Windows, as that is what most of the world's computers run on. so the odds that this guy (or somebody) even wrote a virus for Mac OS are not too good.
