David Nahmani
Yeah thats not gonna help me because in my productions if I get to the point of CPU struggling thats usually not because of midi regions or audio files streaming but because of mamy instances of virtual instruments and 3rd party plugins mixed with a lot of automation. I think you misunderstood me: turning those tracks off will free up all CPU needed to process the audio through all your virtual instruments and 3rd party plug-ins. Ok ...then I definitely did misunderstand you. You see when I pressed Power Off I saw regions grey out but instrument and plugins on that same channel didnt. So I was confused . So I added 5 Addictive dru..ers and plugins on those tracks and CPU meter went half way up. I pressed Power Off but it didnt seem that CPU meter jumped much down so i wasnt sure if it works what you guys said. Hm..I'll give jt a try in a real life scenario when i get stuck in a cpu hog project.
Marcus Aurelius
Revisiting this old thread: Has there been any final determination as to whether turning off a track actually frees (as much) CPU as turning off all the individual plugins in the track? Eric Cardenas
Turning off the track will only mute it's data input from the Tracks Area. If a plugin uses a secondary input or generates a signal itself it will not help you saving CPU cycles:
