Eriksimon
Next time, try to be that specific in your question if you can. Strictly speaking, your original question can be answered with "Yes", there is. Whatz a "dark mb sound"? Here are some good free synths/sampleplayers that can also "do" fine basses: http://www.kvraudio.com/product/podolski-by-u-he http://www.kvraudio.com/product/tyrell-nexus-6-by-u-he http://www.kvraudio.com/product/zebralette-by-u-he http://www.kvraudio.com/product/free-alpha-by-linplug http://www.kvraudio.com/product/crystal_by_green_oak http://www.kvraudio.com/product/alchemy-player-by-camel-audio

xpander
Here are some that deserve your attention: Trilian - http://www.spectrasonics.net/products/trilian.php SubBoomBass - http://www.robpapen.com/subboombass.html or Predator - http://www.robpapen.com/predator.html NI's Monark - http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/synths-samplers/monark/ NI's Massive - http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/synths-samplers/massive/ Cyclop - https://sugar-bytes.de/content/products/Cyclop/index.php?lang=en Substation Sub Bass Workstation - http://dopekitz.com/substation-vst.html This one seems to cater to the Hip-Hop, R&B, and Dubstep crowd. All of the above synths are great for all kinds of sounds, not just bass. But they do bass really well. Also, don't underestimate the power of Logic's synths. It's worth the effort to learn how to use them to dial in the sound you want. - xpander
