Lane
Well I am new to the DAW world and am looking into Logic to use mainly for film scoring.I like the UI and have gotten ringing endorsements of the program from film guys like Marteen Spruijt . So I was wondering if I could get some feedback or advice from anyone using the app predominately for scoring. My concerns arise from forum posts (ie. problems with tempo changes and syncing , bouncing to QT movie) and frustrations I hear about the implementation of the scoring features. I'm not sure if these frustrations should point me in another direction since I am new and don't quite know the challenges that lie before me. So, any feedback would be much appreciated. David Baeck
Hello, here are a few links to excellent (free) articles in Sound on Sound : http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar04/articles/logicnotes.htm http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr04/articles/logicnotes.htm http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Aug02/articles/logicnotes0802.asp http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/Oct02/articles/logicnotes1002.asp These articles were written before the release of Logic 7, but are still higly recommended to learn a few basics how to set up Logic for working to picture. steveH
Logic, historically, has been a DAW of choice for those of us who score to picture. It's flexible, powerful and allows for some amazing creativity. However, there is no doubt that the latest release has been somewhat buggy. Because of my years of Logic scoring experience, I know how to compensate. For a newby, it may be much more difficult. I love Logic for scoring... that said, it will take any newby a bit of time and practice to accumulate to skills, techniques, and the bug work-arounds in this latest incarnation of this amazing tool. medusaproductions
I have used logic to score a couple of projects and I absolutely love it. One of my favorite features is the detect cuts and convert cuts to marker. THis is a great way of laying out your thematic and musical changes in time with the editing. Good luck. David Baeck
Hi David, maybe it's a good idea to add a scoring sticky to the section 'Logic tips & tricks'? I'd also appreciate a sticky on surround in Logic. Thx a lot for your help!
