newbie question about recording

is there a preference to activate/deactivate to make the recording start exactly when you hit "record"? for one certain instance, i don't want that one second of the cursor backtracking before you hit the desired point of recording? make sense? basically i have logic controlling a drum machine via midi and it's messing the beat timing when it bounces back a second before it actually records.

Punch on the Fly

 

If you click-hold the Record button in the Transport window, the Record menu opens, allowing you to switch on “Punch on the Fly”. This can also be switched on from the Audio menu.

Adjust your count-in setting (to none) in File > Song Settings > Recording, also available as "recording..." when click-holding the record or metronome button in the transport display.
