Ashermusic
OK I know Apple recommends against this but if I were to use Logic Express as a virtual orchestra rack with the EXSP24 and sync it up to Logic Pro 7 what will actually happen that is bad? vpunk
You saw the end of Ghostbusters right?
David Nahmani
Apple doesn't recommend it? I didn't know. A lot of people do that. The only difference vs using 2 copies of Pro is that with Express you're limited to 64 instances of EXS24 vs 128 for Pro.

Because someone at Apple once told me that if you open i.e. Logic 7 and 6 at the same time it could f#$k up the XS key.
David Nahmani
Oh sorry on the same computer!? I'm not sure. Never tried. I guess you could try, since Express doesn't use the XS Key. http://www.apple.com/logicexpress/trial/ I wouldn't be surprised if you get an alert "another user already has that application open" when trying to open a second instance of Logic, even if it's Express. Fred B
I'm actually USING Logic Pro & Express on the SAME computer. No problems. As I understand it, both run as completely independent applications with separate preference files, just sharing some data like eg. EXS instruments. David Nahmani
Wow cool. I never tried it, so I was wrong (you DO mean at the same time, right?)... good to know! Have you tried syncing them via IAC?
Fred B
Yes, at the SAME time and also sync'd with IAC. It's quite funny to have two Logic sequencers running on the screen...
David Nahmani
That's cool! I have to try that sometimes.
Ashermusic
The link doesn't work anymore. Works fine here! Well it seems to but when you fill in your name and email adress and click download it tells you it is no longer available. Why the hell would they pull this? Why the hell would they pull this? Maybe because it is/was not an UB version.
David Nahmani
Weird. Actually it tells me: Your download will begin automatically. but nothing happens.

Fred B
That's cool! I have to try that sometimes. Just one point: When I installed Express on a machine where Pro was already installed, I did NOT install the Express content disc to avoid any danger of overwriting content related to Pro. dven
The direct link is: http://a1408.g.akamai.net/7/1408/9955/20050121/akamai.info.apple.com/Logic/LETrial.20050121.ExPs/LogicExpressTrial.dmg but the file is missing. Guess it must be cause it's not a UB. dorian
carrmar
I think the response, "You've seen the end of Ghostbusters" could possibly be one of the funniest things I've read in a long time.
