DaniGordon
Hi everybody. Sorry, but I'll have to talk about this to chill out my anxiety. Just bought the upgrade from Express to Pro. I'm getting it at the end of may (hope) or begining of june (hope not). I'm using Logic Express almost for 2 years. (Cubase SX2 and Pro Tools 5 & 6 - DIGI 001 - since the end of the 90's. Sold my DIGI 001 in 2004). What I'd like to know is if anyone knows how would be this upgrade thing. I'll have to uninstall LE or just upgrade to Pro without uninstalling it? I'll use the same LE serial number on the Pro dongle? Or it will be a completely independent install? How about third party plug-ins. I'll have to authorize them again? I know that all instructions must come with the manuals and in the box, but as I said, It's just to relieve my anxiety. Thanks a lot in advance. shawnbonjovi
Hey, Just install the upgrade and you'll be fine. And your 3rd party plug ins are AU Components, so there is no need to re-install them. The initial Logic Setup Assistant after your install will take care of everything from there! Don't worry, you'll be cool! Shawn
fader8
The two apps coexist quite well. I did it the other way, Logic Pro, then Logic Express as I needed it for classes (they gave it to me). One caveat, if you've made any modifications to the Application Support/Logic folder, eg aliases, additional stuff in the Sampler Instruments folder, etc. then you may want to back that up. Both apps share that folder and the install will write a new one. Other than that, it's no big deal.
DaniGordon
Great! Thanks a lot fader8 and shawnbonjovi. Now I just need Pro to get here. Cheers
DaniGordon
My box of Logic Pro upgrade just got here. Installed and running fine. Now let me use all the things I couldn't using Express. Wow! It feels great having all the Pro functions, instruments, plug-ins...
