basgroot
Why not recycle the best idea from the iPhone for a DAW: an app store? I know it's easier said than done, but the user experience will be just great, if you can just click & download certified plugins with Apple, knowing for sure you're not buying malware from just anyone. Updating plugins with the newest version is really easy, offering the plugin manufacturers an opportunity to keep customer loyalty and modernize the look&feel from time to time. This will be a whole lot better than each plugin manufacturer having their own upgrades, which most users don't do unless they have to. It may even change the music production process; while making music, if you need a certain sound, just hop to the plugin app store, download and try a few inline while producing, and keep the one you like best and get on with your music. Or no, wait, this is even greater: also enable your users to download presets for your plugin from the app store! An even better way for plugin makers to get retention of their customers. It enables for very specific, purpose built plugins for one specific sound (for dummies) next to professional plugins for pros who actually need all the bells and whistles.
