bluemonk
I want to have a track with a reference song on it so that I can try to mix my song to sound like it. But when I put Effects on the Main outputs channel it changes the sound of the reference song . So can I have a track independent of the main output Effects? I hope this makes sense. David Nahmani
No: if that track is routed to that output, it will be affected by any processing plug-ins inserted on that output channel strip. If you do not route it to that output, it will not reach your speakers/headphones, so you won't be able to monitor it. What you could do is simply open your reference track in Quicktime instead of Logic?
involver
I would route all your tracks to a bus and use that for putting plugins over the mix. Then you can just route the reference track directly to the output and it will be unaffected.
shivermetimbers
I would use this neat lil thing called the Environment. A button is clicked to Bypass the OUTPUT channel Inserts and Solo's the Reference Track. Clicked again, it enables the OUTPUT Inserts and mutes the Reference track. Let me know if this would work for you. 8)
