  1. Hi Loukash. Just the man I'm looking for. Because I also have been working with it til now. There's a plugin I'm using (Helix Native , vst) . Whenever I try to load it, it says that it can't connect to their servers to authenticate me, tho I do have an internet connection. I called them and they said, that their code connects to their server using SSL , Secure Socket Layer which I guess is for extra security or something else. They said it's very likely the reason it's not working on my El Capitan is that , that OS doesn't support SSL, but only subsequent OS's do. I hope that explains it better?
  2. Hi. I know Apple didn't support SLL for Apps/Plugins connecting to the internet with that protocol back when El Capitain. Any chance there's a tool/process/workaround anything that can enable it that's come out ever since?
  3. Wonshu, really appreciate it. I had a thought: A lot of my vsts that I got in the last 3 even 4 years. If they run on my very old (10 yrs) version of Capitan and Pro X 10.2.2.. Wouldn't that imply that if anything upgrading to Big Sur (the very last OS my HW would support) wouldn't be an issue, since those VSTS have proven themselves to be even "More Backwards Compatible" with something older? or does that Logic not hold up? Oh and as as reverting to El Capitan if I have after this Big Sur experiment, I (think ) I may have heard once, that even if it's on the same computer, that after one updates to a higher OS, this can due something critical to the HW etc, configuration where reverting back can be an issue? it sounds very strange to me, and I wouldn't be able to see why since HW is HW and an OS is SW. But have you heard of this ? or (hopefully) it is my imagination and that is not an issue at all
  4. Thanks so much. Only other thing making me a bit nervous. I plan on backing up the iMac with timeMachine..and reverting if there are bad problems. Once I install an OS like Big Sure, can it change the hardware config, or do something else that will make it hard or impossible to back to OS X El Captain ? (my current one).. thanks
  5. thanks.. appreciate it!! do you know if vsts (arturia, serum, massive etc) have to be udpated when updating to higher OS s?
  6. Hi All. Looks like I may need to upgrade my OS to 10.12.2. Is there a particular Logic version I can download that will be optimal for that? I have Logic Pro X Version 10.2.2 right now. If anyone can quickly explain the steps to do this attempt safely (ie with a way to go back to my current OS and Logic version) that would be great. Thanks! As a side note.. does anyone use Helix guitar vst here?
  7. Wonshu. Searching thru terminal will list the paths/results including when they are part of a logicx file inside the media/audio files folder
  8. Bummer. I wanted to do it because I didn't know what project it was but I knew I use the specific sample so that would have been a great way to find it I still found it by some other deductive reasoning but it really would be good to have that feature available. If I got you right though if I save my project as a folder structure then it would find it?
  9. Hey, I save most of my projects as .logicx extension. Not a folder. Is that why when I search for a file that is in the Media/Audio files of a project with the Mac finder , it doesn't show any results? Does that only work when you save the project as a Folder? Is there a way to do the search I'm doing by altering some Finder parameters?
  10. thanks so much! i really appreciate that.. will update you!
  11. Thanks for your answer. Well I'm on os x el captain. And logic pro x 10.22.2 The splice client , which I installed in 2022 or earliest 2021 was working and one day starting hanging indefinitely upon launching. I believe what happened was that it got auto upgraded in the background ...but theres also a chance it just stopped working . I'm going to finally upgrade Os version (I dont have a ton of options on a 2015 imac) But if and when I get a working splice and logic pro x on there, I'd rather not do more upgrading . Just my situation... So the main thing I'd have to be able to do is block the auto update..from Splice. If you could tell me how to do that I'd be very very content .
  12. Hi all... does anyone use splice? Have you had any issues with any of their versions on any os's? Is there a way to prevent it from updating as they has caused me some issues
  13. the whole reason for this topic to begin with is the collateral damage to logic and other things created OS updates in MAc.. otherwise i'd have no trouble periodically updating/upgrading... I've never those issues with windows, why are Mac Users so content with the lack of stability and time wasted after upgrades? why is the OS conceived so badly as opposed to Windowd and has these issues? just look at mac forums and the volumes of problems and unsolved problems as opposed to windows..
  14. hey.. thanks for the answer! most of what you said went way over my head... lol.. well kinda 🙂 you're very smart. i should have asked my question different - very simply on their own site, Splice say that each new client of theirs is not guaranteed at ALL to work with the same OS that the previous client version worked with. My problem is that I can't upgrade my OS X, or to other Mac OSs etc every time Splice updates their client. For stability , Logic reasons, etc doesn't matter why, I can't. I guess by frozen in time, what I mean , at least is, is it not possible for me to simply BACK UP the application file of the Splice desktop that works, and then , if all else fails, simply go back to that when a new , problematic splice version comes out? and that way, not be forced to upgrade my mac OS? or.. even better simply disable the feature (hoping i can find it) of splice that automatically upgrades their desktop app? i kept emailing and asking them this, and never got a lucid response if you can believe that... and btw, using their website instead of , or in addition to the app isn't an option either thanks!
  15. Thanks Des. Things seem to have resolved itself. I have a couple of theories but dont' wanna bore you less you're interested. in the future though, what would one do in general to fix an issue like arising from an update? more or less go company by company plug in by plugin, user the plugin manager..just go thru the logical steps..or is there a more general thing that usually one does to fix an issue like this from an update?
