sunbrother
Go to the mixer Left click Setting at the top of an audio track's channel strip Select Copy Channel Strip Setting Left click an instrument track Left click Setting at the top of the channel strip Select Paste Plug-ins only expected result: The result you get when "pasting plugins only" on an audio track- the inserts all stay in the same # slot. real result: all empty insert slots and removed and the inserts are in new # slots. Atlas007
Audio result is the same. BTW, what’s the point into leaving empty slots like that?
sunbrother
I doubt they meant for the Insert # system to switch around in certain pasting situations, especially when they've fixed similar bugs in other situations such as Live Loops cells etc. The point is that I have keyboard shortcuts for opening plugin slots that correspond to plugins in my template with the commands "Open/Close Audio Insert 15 Plug In Window of Focused Track" and I leave room for plugins to be added before the final plugins in my template Edited September 3, 2023 by sunbrother
Atlas007
I see… That’s a problem indeed… I wonder if saving it as a patch preset, and opening same using the merge function… That would likely imply a quite different workflow… (just brainstorming out of the studio…) Edited September 3, 2023 by Atlas007
sunbrother
Loading them as patches and merging does work. It's inconvenient, but it sort of works. I'm not sure if I want to re-do my channel strip library to be patch based over a bug...
sunbrother
Hm. I spoke too soon. Loading them as patches and merging only preserves the insert order *sometimes*, and when it doesn't it also messes up all the Smart Controls data saved with it. Yikes.
sunbrother
This appears to be regressing further. In 10.8 I can't Paste Plug-Ins Only from Audio tracks on to Instrument Tracks at all anymore.
sunbrother
The post above is limited to the Mixer page. It works with the Inspector for some reason. And it doesn't seem to happen with every track. Just some of my instrument tracks are unable to have Plug-Ins pasted on them from my desired channel strip... and then after closing and reopening Logic they were able to again. Atlas007
Did you try with Logic 10.8?
sunbrother
This is in Logic 10.8. The behavior has gotten worse.
