LogicIsDoomed
I have a midi track feeding my Korg Nautilus. CC7 is set at 100. PROBLEM: When I hit play, the volume goes down to about 70. Not sure, because the fader on the mixer remains at 100. But audibly, the volume is reduced, everytime I hit play. There is ZERO region or track automation. Yet CC7 is being sent from somewhere. When I midi filer CC7 directly on my Nautilus, the volume of the midi track remains at 100. Did many, many test for a couple hours troubleshooting: a) creating new multi-instruments b) creating single midi instruments c) deleting all automation on midi track (even though I never added any automation to begin with) d) rebooting Mac e) rebooting LPX many times f) importing project into a completely new project Any ideas??? Thanks Edited October 1, 2023 by LogicIsDoomed
Atlas007
Did you. inspect via the Event List editor the content of your regions (making sure that CC event display isn’t filtered out? Check you General MIDI settings? Have you tried Bypass all control surface?

If you haven't already, download and run Snoizes MIDI Monitor to see where these cc7 events come from...

Does it at least show the MIDI notes that Logic sends (just to make sure you haven't misconfigured MIDI Monitor in some way)? Also, volume can be affected by CC11 (Expression) as well, so look out for those messages too.

When I midi "FILTER" CC7 directly on my Nautilus [the Nautilus has midi filter functions, that can filter incoming midi data], the volume of the midi track in LPX, correctly remains at 100. This means the CC7 automation has to be coming from LPX, correct? Edited October 2, 2023 by LogicIsDoomed
des99
Possibly you're not looking in the right place in MIDI monitor. Make sure you are monitoring the right ports to see all the traffic being sent to the synth.
Solution LogicIsDoomed Posted October 2, 2023 Author Solution Share Posted October 2, 2023 (edited) SOLUTION FOUND: Tried 2 different midi monitor apps and the CC7 data was not showing up in either. After all day troubleshooting, the guilty culprit appears to be my Korg Nautilus "multi-instrument" gone rouge. Seems to have become corrupted somehow, someway. Not sure! I replaced the rogue "multi-instrument" with a clean saved version that I have tucked away in a saved archive. After doing that the invisible, CC7 data being sent from LPX to my Korg Nautilus, stopped! HIPHIP HOORAY!!! PROBLEM SOLVED! :) Edited October 2, 2023 by LogicIsDoomed
des99
Glad you fixed it. Note, there is no such thing as "invisible MIDI traffic", just MIDI traffic you didn't see - you were as I say most likely not looking at the correct ports to observe the traffic. If your multi-instrument was sending MIDI volume, notably set to 100, you likely had the MIDI volume turned on (ticked) on one of your tracks assigned to a multi-instrument sub-channel - see the "Volume: 100" setting which Logic defaults to on these.
