Lynn David Newton
I composed a piece using traditional notation and put it in Finale music notation software. It's written in 3/4 time at the tempo of a dotted half = 116, fast enough to feel like an easy swing, almost like 12/8, or rather like a 4/4 shuffle, with accents on 2 and 4. The entire composition happens to fall in even 4-beat measures from beginning to end if counted this way, even though it's written in 3/4 and looks like a waltz. I exported the original (for solo guitar) from Finale to a MIDI file and imported it into Logic as a basic reference track that I will build around. This sets the metronome at a blistering quarter = 348. Tick-tick-tick, tick-tick-tick ... even though the metronome marking in the printed version says dotted quarter = 116. How can I get the metronome to tick on the first beat of 3/4, i.e. as if it were ticking in 4/4 without changing the music, which I'm unwilling to renotate? I'm looking at the Metronome Settings window, the bottom panel says Source, but I don't see how to do it from there and don't know what all that means. Solution Atlas007 Posted April 13 Solution Share Posted April 13 If you intend to only hear the metronome on the bars, have you tried removing the checkmarks to the lef of the Group and Beat options in the Metronome project settings? Atlas007
Also to correct the tempo set by Logic upon importing your MIDI file, you. could set the project tempo to the desired value then stretch the region to adjust its length (along with the proportional note positions accordingly) to sync the music (with the newly desired/adjusted) tempo. Lynn David Newton
Yes! Clicking on the options shown solved my problem. I would have never known to do that without digging for hours. Thank you!
