Crash after saving after bypassing control surfaces

One of my Logic projects crashes after saving after bypassing control surfaces. Both in Rosetta and Native M1. Why is that?

Also, weird stuff is happening, when I turn the mod wheel playback starts and stops and I've NEVER set it up to do that. That behaviour stops after bypassing all control surfaces, but I can't save after.

But I can save an empty Logic project after bypassing.

Now even weirder, if I try to import tracks from this project into a new one, it says: "The format of this project is not compatible with this Logic Pro version." But I created it in the SAME version of Logic. 😅

What @des99 said.

Mod wheel starting playback is definitely "ghost in the machine" territory.
What the CS, BTW....and do you have multiple CS devices?

M-Audio keystation 61es. Even if I delete it in setup the problem with mod wheel still persists. It stops only after I press "bypass all control surfaces".

Have you inspected your Controller Assignment window? Wiggling your MW should highlight its parameter’s assignment. In such a case, I would delete that entry. Wiggling again the MW to highlight should highlight the other eventual assignment. Proceeding the same way again until no other assignment shows up could normally solve the issue. Such exercise could shed some light on the extent of the issue. However, the cause of that mishap remains unaddressed… Perhaps your project (project template) has been corrupted. Thus I would consider getting rid of those…

How?

Try this:

  1. In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
  2. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
  3. Press the Go button.
  4. Delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.

Note: Type the path exactly as described, including the ~(tilde) -----> ~/Library/Preferences

Done. I managed to get rid of the mod wheel problem in controller assignments window, but still the same problem with saving the project.

the same problem with saving the project

If it's one project....sounds like it's corrupted.
As a question do you ever have multiple projects open at the same time?
If so - do NOT do this.
There's a known (and long-standing) bug that "can"...not always "will" cause project corruptions when you have more than one open and perform a Save/Save As etc. operation.

That and if you copy drag data from one project to another opened one…

Did you quit Logic before trashing the .cs file?

Yes. I just found out that Logic crashes in such algorithm when it has an Omnisphere plugin, so the problem is not in the projects.

Are you using a project template that already contains an instance of Omnisphere? In that case, try using a fresh new blank project instead of an existing template…
