Rangerbob86
I was just wondering why sometimes after I set up all my tracks for recording, when I actually click record about 75% of the time I get the spinning colorful ball on my mac saying that it's thinking, which lasts for about 30-45 seconds. This can get really annoying when I'm only recording short segments of something. I don't think my mac is working to hard...It's got a 2.4 Intel Processor as well as 4GB of ram...is this because I'm recording direct to a USB hard drive? Thanks! Ludwig
yes, ver likely, record to your macs hard drive, you should have plenty of room, and if you dont....make some
triplets
Oh yes, USB is no good for recording. Better use that drive for backup and buy an external firewire 400 or 800. USB doesn't have the streaming capabilities of firewire, it cannot maintain a consistent throughput for audio or video.
David Nahmani
You need to format your drive before recording to it. Format the drive to Mac OS X Extended (unjournaled) using /Applications/Utility/Disk Utility (BEWARE: Formatting requires erasing the drive, so you need to first backup all your important data on another drive). Rangerbob86
Ill try formatting the drive. If that doesn't work, can anybody recommend to me a good hard drive for recording? Thanks!
triplets
I always buy my drives from OWC at www.macsales.com.
ski
Ditto on OWC's. If you can spend a little more, go for Glyph drives. They have a 2 or 3 year warranty, and their customer service is great. Fast turnaround when you have a problem.
