Setting up external compressor?

Hello group,

can someone share with me how they set up an external stereo compressor with Logic Pro?

Is an I/O on a bus or aux the way to go??

Thanks David, does it matter if i use an Aux or Bus.

If i was in my studio right now i'd try both but figured i'd ask you.

The bus object will compress the audio on the bus, while the Aux object will take the audio from the bus and then compress it, leaving the audio on the bus unprocessed.

 

It only matters if you intend to use the unprocessed audio on the bus on another Aux object (for example if you wanted to do parallel compression, you need Auxes and not Bus Objects).

OK so what is the best way to incorporate the comperessor for mastering?

Puttin the I/O on an aux then sending that toi a bus because it's un compressed?

Pardon my naivite but i'm a bit confused. I have a reverb on an I/O in a bus but haven't noticed the compression.
