Notes Moving on Their Own

Yesterday, I started playing my project, and the notes of my virtual synth were playing as though they were quantized in like 1/16th triplets, or something. I had not touched this track for a while, so I don't get how this happened. I went to a back up of the project, and copy and pasted the regions from it into the current one, and it worked once more. I'm scared this may have happened to other tracks.

Any idea why this happened/how I can prevent it? I'm almost done with the track, and would hate to lose it all to this corruption!

It is always a good idea to keep back ups and save regularly.

Many things may have happened besides having a corrupted file.

Quantization settings at various levels, synchronisations settings, importing audio files that could change the tempo of your project, using a MIDI controller affecting various parameters, etc... The list could be long...

This is scary! Quantizing, modwheels, tempo changes, oh my!

Thanks for that information.
