fisherking
lately, i've been posting (hopefully) helpful answers here, or (mostly) wisecracks. but here's an actual question: have an audio recording: bunch of vocals, and a piano. i want to bring it up a minor third, but keep the tempo. what's the least artifact-y way of doing this? thanx! (and will NOT mention logic X here)...
Atlas007
I'd try with Melodyne first... Not sure that Logic transpose so easily polyphonic recording.

fisherking
melodyne is AWESOME. to try out this idea earlier, i used logic's pitch shifter, which did pretty good, but some obvious artifacts. melodnye nailed it. GREAT tool, when needed...
David Nahmani
In Logic, I would use the Time and Pitch machine to do this. If you want truly exceptional quality (better than Melodyne IMO), try Izotope Radius with Logic's Time and Pitch Machine.

David Nahmani
No problem. Keep it in mind if you ever have to do a LOT of stretching, like slow down something a lot, etc... meanwhile glad to hear Melodyne does the trick for you. Atlas007
Does Radius do the transposition respecting the change of key signature like Melodyne does? Let say from C Major to Ab minor? Or does it only shifts note for note to a different degree?
David Nahmani
Radius is just an algo for the time and pitch machine, so you can do with it whatever the time and pitch machine does - and no, that does not include DNA which is a Celemony invention. teedoff087
David, do you know if there is a way to use the Radius engine that's included with iZotope RX in the Time and Pitch machine? I know I can (and do) open a region using the Open in External Sample Editor command, but I like the flexibility of the Time and Pitch machine. David Nahmani
I don't know of any way to do that, no.
