mantoras
I am using 10.6.1 I get this weird error. I have installed all the sound content. But when choosing one of the newer addition electronic drum kits I just get a spinning ball. The old ones from 10.1 load just fine. I search the kits and find that the kits and sound files are already on my SSD. And my download manager already says everything is installed. What could be the error? Atlas007
Does (some of) the library installation been done on an external drive? In either case, what is the percentage of free drive space does your drive(s) have left? What are your system specs? Do you run other apps (while using Logic)? mantoras
It is all installed on my internal drive. I have over 500gb of free space. It's on a M1 macbook air running monterey. To clarify, it's only happening with drum machine designer presets. The new ones that came with Logic Pro X 10.5. Everything looks fine in download manager, everything is reported as fully installed, I see the presets in the browser. But when I click them I only get spinning ball for a minute until it finally asks me to download additional files. When I try to do that I just get a message that the download failed. The files are on my harddrive in the form of sample .aif files and an .exs file for the kits. If I open sampler and from within sampler load the .exs file I can play the kit just fine. But when I open directly from the browser (I am guessing it is trying to open as a DMD kit?) I get the spinning ball. Is there supposed to be a specific file for the DMD kit? Or do your installs also only have the .exs and the .aif samples for the new DMD kits? You can for instance search for the kit "found sound" which is one of the new ones. If I don't find a solution I will just have to remove these new kits and continue without them.

Loads almost instantly (from the patch Library) and works just fine over here... Have you tried those troubleshooting steps?(some may not apply) There is mention of a fix in that post from another topic (and other suggestions above that post)... Do you see a downward pointing arrow inside a circle to the right of the presets in the Library?
mantoras
Thanks for your answer. I see no arrow next to the presets I have a problem with, and the library manager reports the files as installed. I am starting to think this is a Monterey M1 specific bug somehow. I tried installing Logic Pro X 10.5.1 on an older Macbook running Mojave, everything went fine there. Then I copied that library over to my M1 mac. Same problem. I even tried running 10.5.1 on my M1 mac. Again same problem. I even wiped my SSD and reinstalled Monterey from scratch. Same problem!!! And I discovered this problem is present on some other files in the library, for instance check out what happens when I try to load "african kit" in this screen recording video: https://ufile.io/f/5m6i9 Extremely slow loading times for audio files that is below 1mb!! Silly!! What could ever be making this an issue on a newly installed Monterey on a modern mac??? I have seen other people running monterey and reporting no problem. So whats up with this? If you create a new user account on your Mac, can you reproduce this same behavior?
mantoras
I will try this tomorrow. I am thinking, maybe this application file I have is the issue. Is there anyone who still have a downloaded from appstore version 10.6.1 of Logic Pro X?
mantoras
Hello. I tried your tip David but without avail. However I did find a solution. I did two things so I am not 100% sure of what it was, but I guest the latter. 1. Reinstalled Big Sur from scratch (switched from Monterey) 2. In privacy & security settings gave Logic Pro X full HD access. Now everything is back to normal! I appreciate the replies.
David Nahmani
Great! Good to hear. Thank you for letting us know what resolved it for you. 😃
mantoras
I initally marked this as a solution but all of a sudden the problem appeared again. While everything was working great intially now the same problem started. Some of the same newer Drum Machine Designer kits give me the spinning ball. And some other random material starting to act weird, asking for downloading more material (which always fail when I try it. )
Solution mantoras Posted October 22, 2022 Author Solution Share Posted October 22, 2022 I might have finally found the issue... I tried relocating the whole library to an external drive. Then everything is found just fine. When I move it back to the main SSD same problem again. But I realized that in spotlight I have chosen the Mac HD in the privacy settings. I used to do this because I use another software (easyfind) for the search function and I never had an issue before with earlier versions of Logic and the library. But when I remove Mac HD from the spotlight privacy list everything seems to work again.
David Nahmani
Ok that's great news, hopefully this time it'll work for good! 😄
nickk
I randomly started having a similar issue the other day, as are a few people on reddit, and maybe a few people here. Randomly my computer (M1 Max Macbook pro 16 running Monterey 12.6) seemed to not recognize my SSD with my sound library installed on it (which haas worked for several years perfectly). Logic told me that I needed to download the essentials library, which I did, which installed a copy onto the Macbooks HD. So now I had two copies of the sound library, one on the SSD and one on the computer's drive. I then deleted both copies of the library and uninstalled logic, then re-downloaded from the app store. I tried to relocate the sound library from the main HD to the SSD, like I had in the past, but just haven't been able to get it right. It keeps downloading onto the SSD and then moving it back onto the HD. Anyone else having a similar issue? I might just run the whole sound library off the computer drive for a bit while I figure this out, good thing I bought a 1 TB MBP.
