TB2 or TB3??

I am gonna buy an Universal Audio Apollo twin interface to use on location with my Apple Macbook Pro 2015, which has TB2 port
Is it best to buy the Apollo Twin with TB3 and use an adaptor/cable
OR
Just buy the Apollo Twin TB 2 version?

That's a question for Universal Audio.

The TB2 version would certainly work. It would also probably work in the future with a TB3 or TB4 machine if you buy the Apple adapter.

The TB3 version would have to be connected using the Apple adapter and it might not be happy finding a TB2 device on the other end. So ask UA support.

AFAIK TB3 started with Apollo TwinX which has newer chips. I might be wrong though. If you do not need too much power I would go with a used Twin TB2 just to be safe about connectivity. I would contact UA support though.

Thank you, yes it can work that way re connectivity. 

I am concerned that the TB2 version will work with new MAC in a few years when I renew my computer.
