Jordn
Can I use this instead of adding the Gain utility at the top of my chain?

Myself I prefer adding some type of visual VU meter as the 1st plugin before any others so I can properly gain stage the signal. Since I use the Klanghelm VU Meter that comes with a gain control knob built in, I just use it having both control of the incoming audio signal and being able to set the value as well. I think that may be the only caveat I see to solely using the gain utility b/c the value of the gain utility doesn't necessarily correspond to the actual RMS of the signal getting passed in. So I generally don't use the input gain utility but I have used it in the past. Edited October 8, 2023 by Maestro777

Those knobs are remote controls for the input gain on supported interfaces, they don't effect the signal from your tracks... Sorry for the misinformation. I actually had thought differently and would have sworn those knobs affected the input signal but after reading the response @JakobP posted I had to rethink my response and realized I was answered your question believing the gain knob worked the same as Studio One which I also use a lot and does control the audio input. Should have double checked. 🙁
Jordn
No worries @Maestro777, @JakobP reminded me that about a year ago I questioned it elsewhere and learned it had to do with the audio interface I use.
