Today I wanted to continue my rating work, but I can't rate any most (some I can add a rating) unrated sounds anymore: I tried restarting Logic and even my Computer, no change. Jordi Torres Posted January 21 Share Posted January 21 Hi ansolas, Alchemy preset ratings are stored in a SQLite database file, maybe something's up (corruption?) with the data or the database and that's why you're getting this behavior? You could always trash the DB and start from scratch but that's a bit extreme. If you like I could have a look a your DB file to see if I find anything strange in it. The file is here: ~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Plug-In Settings/Alchemy/Alchemy_Preset_Ratings_And_Tags.db Just zip it an attach it to this thread. Trashing is no option, I already spent hours if not days listening trought all presets. Maybe backup trash, and re-populate the sqlite db directly might be worth a try. Opening the db directly without Logic works error free. If the db would be corrupt, rating won't work at all, no ? After re-saving a preset, which can't be star rated, star-rating works again. There I don't even find that sound, nor does the search return any meaningful results at all?: With my db, I get these resuls for the same term: strange stuff. In looking at the names of these patches....I wonder if some 3rd-party (as in pre-Apple) Alchemy library is on various systems? If so...there may be a difference in the way these are stored/identified. I don't think it'd be more than 20 or so patches in the "stock" (Logic) library. I have over 3700 (factory) presets....but some of those shown in the pix above don't appear on my machine. How many does everyone else have? no 3rd party libray, but a handful patches created by myself. For example be resaving an existing patch slightly modified or own created. BUT the patches which are not rateable, are created by Apple such as that Angelic Guitar Pad. I have the impression that Alchemy is buggy since one of teh last updates. That's the interesting thing....I don't have that patch (nor Distant Stars)....hence my question above. And others: Do you guys also have those files there? Maybe that's the cause of 'glitch'. I cleaned anything (backed up my ratings) up and redownload, lets see how it goes. ansolas Posted January 23 Author Share Posted January 23 (edited) OK guys, here is teh result. I redoenloaded the whole Alchemy Library and did a fresh start. Rating was working and this Angelic Guitar Pad was no longer found in Alchemy. Then I opened 'Sample Alchemy' and the 'Angelic Guitar Pad' patch. Thats also where this 'distant stars' patch came from. After that I opened Alchemy and boom 'Angelic Guitar Pad' was also listed there and star rating is broken again. However, I tried what you say here, and while it does add the patch to Alchemy's browser, it does not break the star rating for me. But still, it's clear that's what's creating the issue on your system for some reason. EDIT: I tried again and I can reproduce the behavior you're experiencing. Looks like we have a bug there. I also noticed the ratings DB file grew by 1 MB just by doing this test with the Angelic Guitar Pad preset. J. J. yeh all other work, just not theses Sample Alchemy patches. Therre is an 'enabled and 'status' column , i just set both to 0 and now they are no longer shown after refreshing the library. I am not sure if that change a thing or if apple read the feedback at all. I have never received any feedback for all the reports I sent. But I did. But anyways a short message from Apple , 'yes we logged the issue' or 'no we cant replicate it please send us more' woudl be welcome.
