Unwanted ties in triple time

In 3/4 I have a note that starts on beat 2 and continues through the following bar. It should be a half note tied to a dotted half note. But what I get is a half tied to a quarter tied to a half.

How can I rectify this? The following bar should start with a 1/2 note rest as well. Logic seems to lack logic, or at least elegance.

Not an expert in that field, but have you tried Syncopation and/or Interpretation options?

First try what @Atlas007 suggests. 

With default settings in the Score's Region Inspector, I get the following notation:

(To get a half-rest, you could drag one from the part box and place it on the first quarter note rest in the third measure.)

I'd check for a rest embedded in the first beat of the second measure. Look in the Event List. A quarter-note rest in the first beat of the second measure would reveal that beat (just like the image you posted).

If none of these things help, you could post the measure in question in a Logic file, and someone here could look at it.
