Thanks so much for doing this.

You mentioned you used a macro for some degree of automation - I would like to do this for chipsynth MD.

Do you have more info?

You're welcome! I've talked about what I do earlier in the thread, but due to the size it's probably difficult to track down - I'll try to dig up the posts shortly.

But basically, I write my own macros using Keyboard Maestro, and tailor them for each plugin I do, as each will have slightly different interfaces, features, and some require some creativity to get at the data.

Edit: I don't have that plugin, but if the demo version contains all the patches, and can save them, it looks sufficiently similar to OPS7 that I could probably do it easily enough. Let me know if you'd like me to look at it, but if you're happy doing it yourself, that's cool too!

More info:

Thanks for the response. The interface is pretty similar to OPS7, but IIRC the demo version is restricted to 4 minutes so I don't think that'd be viable.

Are you able to export Keyboard Maestro macros, then I could take a look at adjusting them for chipsynth MD?

Wow - "If MD is not registered, each session will be restricted to 4 minutes and no saving will be allowed." Somewhat harsh demo restrictions!

Sorry no, I've explained before that I'm not willing to do this, as I'd have to become tech support for these scripts, explain them and guide people through the process, especially if they are not familiar with macro programming and Keyboard Maestro. Everyone's environment is different, and the macros I make for me aren't necessarily going to work directly in a different target environment without modification, and from experience I can envisage the help I'd need to give others and it's more than I'm willing to do, unfortunately...

No problem, do you know if doing this will be possible using the KM demo?

Actually I suspect you could just do this with a Python script - if you can get the filenames for all the patches you can just build a list in Python, have it save the current patch within Logic, replace the text with whatever's next in the list, click the next arrow etc etc

It should be yes, as far as I can remember, it's fully functional.

Yeah, there's many ways to skin this particular cat, I choose the way that's best for me, but other people come up with different solutions that match their preferences/skillsets etc.

For the Plogue stuff, the presets are individual "fermatax" files (/Library/Application Support/Plogue/*plugin*/Presets/), so you can get the patch names from those, rather than pulling them out of the plugin. Looking at what I did here in KM, it seems I did the same - basically, I put the filenames into a text editor list (or you could put them into some variables/arrays directly into KM), and work through them that way - so essentially basically the same idea you had.

Let us know how you approached it when it's done, as other people may find that info useful too. 👍

here's the presets with a couple of scripts, quite easy and has got me eyeing up other plugins i own

the python script saves each of the presets in turn as 1.aupreset, 2.aupreset etc..

the shell script needs to be run from the relevant folder in Library/Audio/Presets/<plugin-developer>/ and needs a txt file as input that looks something like

Basses/CoolNoise.fermatax

Basses/EvenCoolerNoise.fermatax

...

Pads/Coolest Noise.fermatax

and then it will sort them into the relevant folders.

i got this file in this case by running

`fd .fermatax` from the Plogue Chipsynth MD preset library

chipsynth MD.zip presetsaver.py renamepatches.sh

May I request UADx Moog Minimoog please and thank you!

Unfortunately I don't have that one - if I had, I would have done it. I already have so many good Minimoog emulations, I wasn't really tempted to buy this one, and there is no way to demo it, short of starting a subscription and do it that way, so my hands are somewhat tied on this. Anyone else?

(And thanks!)

Edit: I've just noticed I've missed the Artist presets from a bunch of the above plugins - I'll do those now and update them...

I'll just be thankful for what I have and the ones you have done so far, in the original UAD plugins the presets are already there in Logic I have most of their plugs but I have no idea how to automate the process I tried that keyboard maestro program only to realize very quickly I don't know what I'm doing laugh out loud
