Which Mac mini spec for Logic and Pro Tools please? ordering today

I have a Mac Mini M1 at my main studio, and an old Macbook Pro in my home studio.  I would like to bring the Mac Mini to my home studio and buy a new more powerful Mac Mini for my main studio.

I have had zero problems with the M1 Mac Mini, lovely, silent, fast, perfect.

What would be the best spec to get for the M2 Mac Mini?   cost is not really a problem, I need to buy it today, as its last day of the tax year in UK.

I want a Mac MIni!  and I am not interested in a Mac Studio!.

Any help appreciated.

If cost is not an issue I would recommend:

  • Mac mini
  • M2 Pro with 12‑core CPU, 19-core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
  • 32GB unified memory
  • 2TB SSD storage

Thanks David, Thats almost the spec I planned on, though with 1 TB SSD Storage.

Will I really make use of the 19core GPU upgrade?  I don't deal in video really.

If you have more time you can go through this entire discussion:

Note that lagerfeldt seems very happy with a lesser, non-Pro M2 Mac mini:

Ha, now I am not so sure, tbh honest the MacMini M1 is a beast, if the M2 is better, then may be the  Non Pro version would be fine!?    just need to make a choice, though I like the idea of having 32GB RAM.

Yes,  I know there are worse problems in life!

One way to look at it is, the faster machine may last you a little longer (as apps get updated and get hungrier in RAM and CPU) than the less expensive one. So if you think you don't need a monster you can get the less expensive one and you'll get to update it to something even better a little sooner.
