Gridscape
Does anyone know how to resolve this, I find it a lot in Logic Score and would love to solve it. This bar is an example, the time signature is 4/4› the dotted quarter note (dotted crotchet in UK) should be followed by the eigth note (quaver) tied to the half note (minim). Why is it not splitting the first bar into two equal halves? The eigth note and half note should be round the other way. Of course in the piano roll this is one midi note (running into the next bar), but on the score its illogical to read. I have tried editing interpretation, syncopation etc. the quantising is 16/24 which is correct.
Solution Plowman Posted January 18 Solution Share Posted January 18 I get the correct render for this rhythm. The only way I can recreate what you're seeing is to check Syncopation. One thought: is it possible you've set the second note to syncopation? You can check at Score > Functions > Note Attributes > Syncopation> Force Syncopation. If a specific note is set to Force Syncopation, it will override the broader Score settings region box in the Inspector. If that's not it, you could post the Logic file with just the region, and we can take a look at it. The following movie is recorded with Region Syncopation off, No Overlap and Max. Dots 1.
FlowerPower
Sure, the default behavior is this: ...and if you for some reason have altered the key command for Force Syncopation, or used the factory key command Control-Shift-Y, you may have forced that look onto that bar without actually wanting it. You can also achieve this look by entering these settings... ...but it's unlikely that someone does that without noticing it – unless they have entered these values in some previous project and turned that project into a template. Most likely, you have activated Syncopation, here...

Gridscape
All, both replies helpful thanks so much. I need to ensure syncopation is set to 'default' then it displays correcty (I assume this also means 'off' (unchecked). I think I must have needed syncopation on elswhere. I note that you can force or defeat on a note by note or bar by bar basis so best settings are what works mostly, then correct individual anomomlies as you find them. This is a very important win for me so thanks very much! Edited January 19 by Gridscape spelling!
