jamiewamie
He is also of the new generation of engineers who uses his eyes just as much as, if not more than, his ears, using a spectral analyser. This is just terrible. How is this ever a good thing? It works for some people. I must clarify that I'm specifically talking about dance music. If the end result is good who's complaining how it's mixed?
maeghan
Nice site! What is up with the glasses, eyebrows an mustache? the eyebrows and mustache was me being a goof ball ... my nickname used to be nutmeg as for the site, thank you! i went off on a tangent for a few months teaching myself php, html, css, java ... so i can hopefully make some extra money building custom wordpress sites for people ... marcel72
Another reason for these 'new breeds', if we can call them that, to use their eyes as much as their ears is that budgets for projects have fallen considerably, therefore people don't have the money to buy big sound proof studios with custom built monitors and a pair of NS10's, they only have enough to put a pair of small KrK's or any other project studio monitor into their acoustically bad spare bedroom or cellar. Therefore they often need to 'see' what their doing more so than hear it. This is absolutely not true. There is not, and there never will be, any plugin(s) that can be substituted for the skill and judgement of a good engineer listening to a mix through a good monitor chain. It makes no difference if it's cutting edge techno mixed ITB or acoustic alt-country coming off a Studer J37, the same rules apply. Anybody who tells you otherwise is taking your money. maeghan
Rwatts81 ... it made me laugh too ... now back to setting up my studio space in my new studio apartment ... i think i like the idea of living in a small space cause it leaves less to manage ... i've only been here for a week and i'm down to my final bit of arranging where to put my desk and keyboards... it would be really nice to get my Tannoy back from this repair shop I took it to in NYC ... they have had it for three months now ... arrrrrrrrrr
OmarChavezJr
I'll post pics of my set-up later... However, I'll give another glowing recomendation to MASCHINE. It's really easy and fun. I've found myself using JUST the hardware OR just the software equally. They are both that intuitive. I'm really looking at a TI Snow aswell ... those look awesome. Just added a focusrite liquid mix 16... although to be honest still am not sure how to use it.

creationcollective
BM5a's I really like them a lot. I have been contemplating a sub to go with, but I keep thinking that will cause more problems than it would solve.
