Edirol FA66 interface,

Jim

how do you like the fa-66 as your main interface? I have the fa-101, it's pretty good, but the pre's are too quiet... or rather the headphone output is too quiet.

hey mate you are correct. The FA66 is awesome however the phones output is too low, thinking of getting a presonus headphone out to spice it up a little. That is the only issue i have with it, apart form the fact i cant run it at 32samples in logic, it just goes all static like,

same happens on my macbook pro, just makes a robotic weird noise, like a delay set at .01ms (realistically its the difference between 3.7ms and 4.0ms) not a real world issue but yeah.

The mic pre`s are fine for what i use it for, recording guitar and bass, no problems there :) guitar goes from Guitar > Pod xt live > Presonus Tube Pre > Presonus 3beq > FA66 input 2 (High Z) w/limiter.

Cheers

so you use it with software monitoring? I just use hardware monitoring so I don't have to deal with latency? If i'm correct in assuming you are talking about software monitoring... what do you use it for? Is much better. Sometimes I use it with my fa-101, so I hear reverb on my voice but i'm not a big fan of latency.

Um im a bit confused.

I use software monitoring, i make dance / house / electro and use soft synths and vst`s.

all that happens at around 4.0ms, When i record guitar 4.0ms is good enough so i just record via software monitoring.

what do you use? and how do you record?

what output latency do you use? ## samples?

this is what i've been waiting for over four years; a studio space I can work in with 100% functioning gear and a powerful computer that can handle plugins like BFD2, Synthogy's Ivory.

i dropped out of a very good school to follow my dreams, and the past few years since doing so have not been easy. (but hey, i know that i'm not the only one.) I have to say this ... i've had far too many technical difficulties.

I'm just a girl that's trying to do what has seemed like the impossible ... completely produce an indie rock/pop/new wave/shoegaze .. whatever you want to label it ... record.

so, without further ado ... i'm super super psyched to share these with you guys and gals :-)

The bands of the golden age of shoegaze (late 80s / early 90s) such as Ride, My Bloody Valentine, early Boo Radleys, all used to be pretty static on stage, head down covered by indie cred long haircuts, thrashing out some of the most$&@+% up sounds you can imagine, hence the shoegaze name.

I am a big fan of that sound, would love to have a listen to your tracks maeghan.

Well, I couldn't resist and had to look ...

“boobgaze” music on Last.fm

Boobgaze generally combines sound featured extensive use of guitar effects, and indistinguishable shouted vocals that blended into the creative noise of the guitars the slow tempos, heavy rhythms and dark, pessimistic atmosphere of doom metal with the aggression, and occasional fast tempos of hardcore punk.

People called this genre “boobgazing” because the musicians in these bands often maintained a motionless performing style, standing on stage and staring at the female boobs while playing their instruments; hence, the idea that they were gazing at their boobs.

There ya go Meaghan.

So you can call it whatever 'gaze' you want to stare at.

well i just bought an MBP 15" with 4gb/500gb 7200 RPM disk for $700 Australian.

I also bought some cheap edirol monitors and behringer controller keyboard, this is second to my Mac Pro,

The macbook sits on my coffee table and is nice to be able to muck about while watching telly etc
