Project suddenly dropped tempo, pitch, and there's a strange high-pitch hum?

I have a project with about 40 tracks. Several days ago I made verispeed an option on the control bar but did not use it and the project operated as expected until this morning. I opened my project and all audio files are slowed down, vocal tracks are loooong and loooow in pitch, and there's also a very high-pitched hum (like tinnitus!). Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Is the tempo displayed in orange in the LCD display?

Thank you for your response David. Yes it is, and the tempo remained unchanged. I was able to revert to a previous file save, but DO wonder about what I did wrong (to avoid this happening again).

That means that varispeed is on. 

If that happens again, make sure you can see the varispeed button in your control bar, that way you can easily toggle it off.
