I found this post hilarious! Now you have me pondering the same question! haha

I think what is going on…if I were to guess…is that there is no limiting going on and a low threshold? So therefore you are distorting the signal and not having any sort of limiting going on. Limiting is essentially compressing something with a high ratio. Idk if any of this makes sense to you or not. But there ya go. My answer.

Oh, your input slider is also up full so you’re overloading  there too. I leave the I/o sliders at default, and use the threshold slider to bring the level up to whatever LUFS level is required as shown in the output metering on the right ( for example, -14 LUFS for streaming services).
