I got the original one when they first came out (which I think they now sell as the "Classic" or something). Sold it on. Didn't do anything for me. - C
Waterboy
I am curious: How many of you guys/gals have a sudio that is capable of recording a band? Maybe like a rock band or something? Or better yet - how many of you have something other than a home studio? Just curious who is using Logic (and whatnot). Thanks
dkgross
well..for what it is, I've always liked the sound of the Virus series..It certainly serves its purpose.... then again..I have plenty of soft synths that sound like it (the Rob Papen stuff, for sure)... I can change round my rig at the drop of a hat to give us 15 mic channels and there's a live room next to my work studio. Can't get visual contact though because of the small matter of three feet of Irish stone ....... ! - C

ski
Aaahhh ! NS10's !- Smell that burning tweeter aroma. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be ........... What's all this waxing nostalgic about NS-10's? Heck, I'm looking to get rid of a pair. Does this mean I'm no longer a sentimental mush? Or is it just that I can't stand to listen to them anymore? [crickets] Fine, then. Whatever. I'll keep 'em.

pantomimeHorse
This is an old press photo taken when I had my studio and label based in England. - The desk is a 24-channel Seck (two 12-channel Seck's with everything bussed together by my engineer, Ben. Loads of people were doing that in the 80's with Seck boards !). You can glimpse my old Drawmer gates in the rack behind me, along with (!) an Akai digital delay ! ! ! - You can just see my trusty Korg DDD-1 drum machine sitting at its usual rakish angle on the bench just over my left shoulder. - Obscured by my big bonce are the two Atari 1024's we used, running Steinberg Pro-24, locked up with SMPTE to the Fostex 16-track (you can just make out the Fostex remote, under my right arm). - Jackfield to my right (left of pic). We mastered to Sony-F1 on Betamax tape in those days and, actually, it was pretty damned good quality. - There's dBx noise reduction and lots of SMPTE lock stuff in the rack, too. - Enjoy ! http://www.kbodance.com/chrisNineacresStudio.jpg - C
maxedwards
a little tight on space, and a little messy, but suits my needs... http://a710.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/127/l_f965c9f29c88aa0a8e6fa63b26083345.jpg cheers
ski
maxedwards, Wow, two distressors! Great! BTW, what are those modules in the top of your rack? And is that a frequency shifter module I see?

maxedwards
thanks ski, love the empirical labs el8x-s, I tend to use the synths a lot so the distressors ended up down there ( but are quite reachable from the chair ) the top modules are a modified studio electronics code 8 ( my pride and joy ) and below that a virus ti, then a waldorf micro q phoenix edition ( I think that's what you were referencing to ie frequency shifter ), and the moog had to stay on the desktop ( love those sturdy knobs ) there's a sub under the desk which the chair is covering up. a dj setup, guitar & amp, and record shelves fill out the rest of the room. cheers
prjkt
new member to the forum here, but i've visted a few times in the past for some excellent tips, and i though i might contribute my modest little studio (i'm still a student here) http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/685/img8607largeyc7.jpg it's a little messy, but that's just the way i work. Btw that pc/hackintosh that you can just see at the bottom left has since been replaced with a mac pro I use my studio for trance music mostly, and the occasional acoustic singer/guitarist demo for friends
guitonit
Here's the "mobile rig" I put together for the summer. Still trying to find a small set of monitors that won't break the bank and still sound good. http://home.comcast.net/~guitonit/portable.gif Scott A. bebop
very cool - you can make world class recordings with what you've got right there genelec 1029's are quite kick ass for small monitors

Waterboy
I'm somewhat surprised that I haven't seen any Lynx units in a studio pic .... yet Should I read into that?
ski
I've kinda wondered the same thing WB, but then again, not everyone subscribes to forums. I wonder if you'll get a better overview of studio applications of the Lynx stuff by going to the Lynx forum?
Amber
That's a nice and simple setup. Is that for live use? What's the power conditioner for? My setup is pretty much just a Macbook Pro and 49 key USB controller. Simplest I've ever had and I've been the most productive.

guitonit
Hey Amber, No live usage, just for songwriting/recording in the dressing rooms, or hotel rooms on days off. The power conditioner is just a PL-8, so it's not much more than a nice power strip. Hotel rooms are notorious for never having enough power outlets, so why not bring my own! I am trying to talk myself into bringing my 49 key usb keyboard, but I am running out of room! Scott A.
jamiewamie
I'm going to rebuild the entire studio from scratch in two months, everything is changing, new console, new acoustics, etc. 30" screen, + 4 iMac workstations in the other end of the studio. Lagerfeldt, what are you cleaning bills like every month? haha. Seriously lovely studio dude, please do post the new pictures up when you get it refurbed! ChicoSatis
Hey Deepswing I LOVE the feel of your studio. If I had a studio that looked like that I'd be able to work 15 hours straight probably. Awesome.
