Free plug-ins

Recommended Posts

Don't know if this was already posted  here but you cant get an  Access Virus B and C and Waldorf MicroQ with a motorola 56300 dsp emulator:

Osirus & Vavra.

It's not immediate and "click on the .pkg instaler ready" but it's worth the effort in my opinon.

And obvisoulsy this emulator is compatible with all the soundbanks .syx and .mid  for those synths

You'll find many tutorials and other links to get the things working

This week’s free plugin is Soundly’s Place it, a tool based on a popular feature of their Voice Designer product which faithfully recreates the sound of audio being reproduced through a variety of playback devices in a variety of spaces.

Free overdrive plugin based on famous tube screamer pedal.

Plugin works fine but had to restart computer after loading into component folder for the plugin to initially appear in Logic. I've had to do this with some other third party plugins as well. Does anybody know why the restart is required? Simply opening and closing Logic won't do it for Audio Unit plugin scan.

Sometime restarting the session, not the computer,  is enough.

If a plugin require a total computer restart I don't instal it on my main computer (I usualy test the plugins on my "mobile studio" laptop).

This one works after restarting the session, so it's OK. It will live 😄

I can't answer this but here may be a clue as to why. You will find that simply logging off and back on is sufficient. A complete restart is not necessary.

The main reason is to get AudioComponentRegistrar service to recognise a new plugin has been added, if it doesn't see it. Sometimes, it won't see it, and needs a "kick" - you can either get it to restart by restarting the computer, or by logging out and in again, or by literally kicking the process with 'killall -9 AudioComponentRegistrar' (where it will then restart itself).

I've just tried it.

For me it works well, the plugin is recognized without problem, no need to quit and reopen the session which is a good point for me.

The CPU usage, often high with the convolution technic, is  25% on one thread bar with an intel 3 GHz Intel Xeon W 10 (my desktop 2018 iMac Pro)  and 75%, and some jumping, on one thread bar with a 2,3 GHz Intel Core i9 8 (my laptop 2018 MBP 16''). See pictures, the piano played E minor 7 chords on both.

So beware if you're short on CPU.

The IRs are easy to load and the link to free IRs on the voxengo page is cool.

I haven't dig yet in all its settings but they're many.

Well, as usual with voxengo the GUI is not sexy nor even nice, but who care, the final listener will never see your screen

Not a plugin effect or instrument but this looks like a useful tool ! It’s an audio unit uninstaller that looks good . I haven’t personally installed this yet and have no idea if it’s worth your time but it may help for trying out plugins. Please if you’ve used this free plugin let me know your thoughts . I’ll probably install soon. The plugin is located at
